Kola’s research interests range from international trade, investment, regional integration and monetary and development law & policy. Kola has extensive experience in using research to advance policy and has worked extensively with policymakers. At the European Commission he supported efforts for EU Member States stakeholders to work towards the committment of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals 12.3 and with the East African Community he successfully facilitated and participated in the East African Legislative Assembly Plenary 6th-Meeting-3rd Session-3rd Assembly in Tanzania with a keen focus on the trade relationship between the EAC-EU.
Kola spent four years in the Horn of East & Central Africa (including DRC-Goma and Zambia) working with Government institutions, International Organisations and NGO’s. He worked on the UK DfID funded Kenya Markets Assistance Programme tasked to reduce poverty in Kenya by building greater awareness among influential policy makers, market actors and other stakeholders on better functioning of markets to improve competitiveness, efficiency and inclusiveness.
Kola also worked as a consulant facilitator for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationalle Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Food Security and Development of Agricultural Markets, South Sudan. Based in Juba,he worked on a markets facilitation programme employing relationship building tactics, and sound judgement to enable effective collaboration with government, the private sector and international stakeholders to contribute to sustainable economic development.
Before embarking on an international career, Kola worked in the United Kingdom for over 8 years with private and public sector organisations focussing on strategy planning and business development to provide solutions leading to effective organisational change. Kola has a background in international diplomacy and relations, holding a Master’s Degree level in Law (United Kingdom) and Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Politics (United Kingdom).
